►Mission Statement: Why is this website here?

Randolph-Macon Woman's College, in its distinguished 115-year history, now has nearly 13,000 living alumnae. Our primary purpose is to make this site useful to R-MWC alumnae and friends by gathering factual information heretofore not found in one place on the internet. This website has no association with Randolph College or that area of its website devoted to the R-MWC Alumnae Association.  We are independent from the college and from any other group. And very important is the fact that, thanks to the generosity of our host, this is a free website.

Our first mission is to provide information, as objectively as possible, about recent events that in July 2007 saw Randolph-Macon Woman's College transformed into Randolph College, a co-ed institution that altered the focus of its curriculum and changed its previous mission from the education of women to include also the education of men. We are not here to advocate, because we believe that intelligent and well-informed alumnae can draw their own conclusions from the material provided here. Other websites and/or discussion forums contain some of this information, and we list them at the top of this page under "Links." But we believe this site is a factual resource that brings together in one efficient place the information R-MWC alumnae want to know.

►Timeline of R-MWC History

As the primary focus of the information we have worked hard to provide, the GO box labeled "Timeline of R-MWC History" at the upper left is the most important item on this page, and we suggest that you begin there. The Timeline lists significant events in the history of the college, both for their own sake and as background to the more frequent and detailed entries that cover happenings from 2005 to the present. Where they are available, we have attached photos and/or documents to various entries, including many documents letters and announcements sent out from the college. The Timeline will be updated as new events occur, so that when you return to it, you can quickly catch up on what you may have missed.
